he latest SCAR 20S is a commercial variant of SCAR Mk
20 Mod. 0 Sniper Support Rifle (or SSR in short) which
was available for military and law enforcement end users
only. The Mk 20 Mod 0. was adopted by US SOF in May 2011
as a DMR rifle based on Mk 17 Mod. 0. The main changes
included longer and heavy profile precision barrel and ex-
tended monolithic handguard. The SSR also featured the
two-stage gas regulator.

N SCAR 20S joins the SCAR family developed in 2000s
for the United States SOCOM looking for the replace-
ment of old and proven M4 rifles. The FN SCAR family con-
sisted of:
.223/5.56 SCAR-L assault rifle adopted by US SOCOM
as Mk 16 Mod. 0, available for the civilian market as
SCAR 16S semi-automatic only.
.308/7.62 SCAR-H battle rifle known as Mk 17 Mod.0,
with its SCAR 17S commercial market
.223/5.56 SCAR-SC PDW rifle (since 2019 also avail-
able in .300 BLK)
