In the 20th century, the Kingdom of Sweden was well able to arrange
for proper defense measures. And this involved not only reasonable
geopolitics but also activities aimed at the formation of its army and the
development of its armaments industry. This development, coupled with
pragmatism and high-technology culture – typical of Scandinavians, bred
many types of armaments, which were ahead of their time on the one
hand, and turned out to be long-lasting and well-suited to the Swedish
tactics and landscape features on the other. Probably the best examples
of the above are a support weapon in the form of the Carl Gustaf
recoilless rifle and the NLAW grenade launcher.
