or 1:12 barrel twist. SKW .308 can be converted to 6.5 Creedmoor round by changing the barrel to the one with 1:8 twist. Barrels are fluted for better rigidity and improved thermal mitigation. Caliber change in SKW .308 will require barrel change and the SKW .338 will require conversion kit (to be developed). All barrels are M18x1 threaded (as in SAKO TRG rifles) but can come with M18x1.5 thread (Accuracy International) or with custom one if required. Muzzle end has funneled muzzle break and flash hid- er device (in future also a compensator) compatible with Rotex IIA QD suppressors. Threaded suppressors might be directly attached to the barrel thread. Barrel can be quickly removed and replaced. The barrel nut is adjusted with proper wrench. The barrel nut has also anti-rotation pin. Barrel extension has six screws. The 16.5" rifle instead of 16" barrel is also being considered, but this decision will be made after complete testing. SKW has 3-postion gas regulator: normal, sup- pressed, shut off. The fourth position, for shooting in extreme conditions, is being considered. Gas regula- tor has safety pin, which must be pushed down before switching the position. It can be adjusted with naked hand, with Allen key or even with casing. During the barrel assembly, the gas regulator will lock by default in normal position. The gas piston and cocking rod are easy to take off. Gas piston is two-part for easier cleaning. Charging handle is installed just below the top accessory rail. It might be fixed, folded to the side, one-sided or ambidextrous. Rifle might be custom- ized by the used. Charging handle is non-reciprocat- ing and stays in the forward position during shooting. Bolt carrier group has firing pin spring to absorb the impact and firing pin safety block. SKW rifles feature the 7075 aircraft-grade alumi- num lower receiver shaped after AR-10 ergonomics. All switches and levers (magazine release button, bolt release lever, safety switch) are doubled, making the SKW fully ambidextrous. The bolt release lever on the left is extended downwards to set the bolt in the back position). Safety switch selector is enlarged Hera Arms switch, which can be easily replaced. It should be noted, that the lower receiver does not have "fire" marking, but only features area where the rifle is "hot". The reason for that is compatibility with different safety selector with 45 deg, 60 deg and 90 deg throw. The pistol grip and trigger guard can be also replaced. SKW rifles comes with Geissele Automatic Super Semi-Automatic (SSA) two-stage match triggers with 4.5 lbs trigger pull. Other trigger kits can be installed. www.fragoutmag.com
