Bolt carrier groups of both rifles features bolts, firing pins and retaining pins. They are both based on AR multi-lug rotating bolt but have some slight design differences. The bolt of MSBS might rotated by 180 degree to change the casing ejection side. Except that, they are almost same. The firing pin retaining pins are identical, they share same shape and rubber rings. Recoil springs are very similar, they all feature spring with rod and the rear base. The only difference is the recoil spring mounting solu- tion. Upper receivers are totally differ- ent, except being made from alu- minum alloy reinforced with stain- less steel inserts on the inside. The SCAR receiver is monolithic part with the handguard (or its both sides as the bottom is rail attached to the barrel). In case of MSBS, the handguard is separate element which can be quickly replaced without tools or field stripping. It has two attachment points; front is detend and back is secured with pin. The commercial MSBS has M-LOK attachment system on the hand- guard with three short 1913 rails on 3, 6 and 9 o'clock. SCAR has 15-slots bottom rail and 9-slot side rails. M-LOK attachment system in MSBS allows to attach different 1913 rails for accessories. The SCAR rails are fixed and trouble- some to replace as the barrel is mounted with six screws.
