Legacy M82/M82A1 and its versions appeared in multiple
movies, TV series, books and computer games in past thir-
ty years. Even in anime! The powerful "Light Fifty" usually
is pictured as an ultimate problem-solver and through-the-
-wall killing machine. The weapon is usually portrayed as
a ridiculously powerful hand cannon capable of punching
holes in walls and launching people off their feet. In some
of video games it is a top tier weapon and achievement.
For the first time M82 appeared in 1987 "RoboCop" direc-
ted by Dutch filmmaker Paul Verhoeven as OCP's experi-
mental "Cobra Assault Cannon" with extra plastic housing
attached gigantic digital scope mockup. RoboCop used it
against ED-209 (even with stovepipe!). Another noticeable
appearance was M82A1 in legendary "Navy SEALs" mo-
vie from 1990 where it was seen in "God's" hands, Dave,
portrayed by Bill Paxton. His rifle was fitted with thermal
