an openwork transport container suitable for land and air transportation – also to be carried on external suspen- sion systems. Its dimensions are 4.78 x 2.22 x 2.37 m; it weighs 480 kg. The entire packed unit is 940 kg. Such a set makes it possible to assemble a 30-me- ter bridge in about 6 minutes with the 5-6 soldiers. The capacity of a standard 30-meter bridge is 8 soldiers per minute, if one soldier weighs around 171 kg. A single sol- dier won't ever weigh that much, of course (unless they use an exoskeleton), but adopting such a weight for es- timating the maximum load makes perfect sense. Such weigh values take into consideration e.g. carrying the wounded (by means of e.g. fireman's carry), and trans- porting load using adapters for a stretcher and logistic supplies. The adapter itself is a simple pipeline axis with two steel rollers, with a gauge corresponding to the spa- cing between the handrails, shaped in a way that the han- drails act as their tracks. Using two adapters fixed to the ends of a standard stretcher, it is possible to easily and quickly move a wounded person over the footbridge by simply pushing the stretcher in front of us. Supplies can be transported in a similar way, using one adapter – by suspending e.g. cans or crates to it – or two adapters – by forming a transport platform. During the show we could watch the bridge being laun- ched over a water gap with the use of a float, and a simu- lation of launching the bridge over a dry gap. We have to give it to the manufacturer. What they write in their fol- ders is true – launching the bridge is really simple and quick. You don't need any tools to do it because all con- nections are actually quick disconnect couplings which can be handled manually. LAND FORCES
