long rotations. Notably, contrary to Baltic Air Policing or
Romanian Air Policing, the NATO fighters operate out of
Keflavik 3 times a year, without maintaining the continuity
of the presence. This is motivated by the operational
requirements and diminished activity and demand for QRA
duty in this area.
Each of the states and each of the pilots or members of
the ground crew learn to appreciate the Icelandic rotations.
