KORDEK AMP'PED
The AMP12 I have was the smallest
(till the AMP10 was unveiled) pack
from the AMP family. It was about a
year ago when it came to me and re-
placed the Arc'teryx Pender 18 as my
EDC pack. The solid black color is my
obvious choice for a daily commuting
backpack.
Some facts first: 25 liters volume.
Rectangular main compartment with
velour lining and three pockets. Two
outside pockets with two-way zips and
external pocket with Velcro flap. Velcro
panel for HEXGRID panel outside. Four
compressions straps, carrying handle on
top, profiled shoulder straps and thermo-
formed back panel.
The most important part of each of the
packs is the suspension system. Let's
start with the back panel which is not
just a usual foam and mesh but thermo-
formed profiled foam with an air vent in
the center. Except for the vent tunnel and
embossed 5.11 logo, this part is almost
flat. I was expecting for some magical
air circulation but in the summertime
my back was always wet as the packs
stick to the body, unfortunately. It does
not do the trick. Shoulder straps are pro-
