filed and padded. Fabric in direct contact with skin is nice and comfortable. There are some attachment webbing straps for gadgets. There is a sternum strap but no waist strap (there are two loops for at- tachment only). Well, during my review I didn't feel I would need it (it's just a 25 liter pack). Even when ful- ly loaded, the pack was com- fortable and stable. Behind the rear panel there is a flat zippered c o m p a r t m e n t meant for hy- dration bladder (there is also an attachment loop in its upper part so you can hang the blad- der). SInce it is well padded, it also works as a laptop compart- ment. It should fit up to a 13" laptop, don't even try with anything bigger than that. The main c o m p a r t m e n t is accessible with two-way Quad-Zips and the 15.6" laptop should fit there without problem. Compartment is lined with fuzzy velour in light gray color, so all pockets and pouches placed there with Velcro hooks are contrasting from the background. In the top part there are two small web- bing loops for attachment (dedicated for HEXGRID modular panels which might be detached from the rear of the pack and placed inside). On the opposite side there is a main flap with two internal mesh pockets. Top one is horizontal and rather small. The larger bottom pouch has two-side access with vertical zips and internal organizer: elastic rubber bands for pencils and other stuff and key chain loop. This is visible at the first sight. But there is also a hidden zippered pocket between them, for some valuable item. Initially, I have placed the HEXGRID panel inside the main compartment, but finally it returned to the original location outside. The main chamber is now flat. I keep the laptop there and all the small stuff in the internal pockets. To this mo- ment, I have used the hidden pocket just once to keep my documents safe. What I really like about the main chamber is the endless arrangement possibility, you can attach as many pockets and pouch- es inside as you want. In the rear pocket I stored only some A4-sized sheets and documents as it is flat and keeps stuff in shape. There is also an external pocket with Velcro closure outside of the main flap. There is a Vel- cro loop outside shaped in the 5.11 logo. I kept the A5 notebook inside. Since the 5.11 Tac- tical is doing a lot of low-vis or CCW products, the AMP packs couldn't be different and origi- nally these padded pockets are de- signed to keep the handgun in CCW holster! There is a horizontal attach- ment webbing in- side to fix the hol- ster. Padding will completely remove the printing effect. What catches an eye is the HEX- GRID panel with modular attach- ment. It may look weird but works. If you want to attach some more pock- ets to the pack, this works great. Stan- dard 9x9 HEXGRID might be removed and placed inside the pack or replaced with some other HEX- GRID panels or modules available at 5.11. Or you can leave a plain Velcro loop on the outside of the flap and use it for patches. For a year now, the AMP12 is my pack of choice for everyday commuting in the urban environment. It is compact but packable, I have all my essentials inside. What else you may need? EQUIPMENT
