redesigned to the fully-fledged handguard with M-LOK attach- ment system slots. Bolt release lever was relocated to the trigger guard area, case deflector and ejection port cover (for an unu- sed port) were also added. GROT has an ambidextrous charging handle which is not removable (in field stripping). Charging handle is non-reciprocating but still enables great force to be used to cham- ber or extract difficult or ruptured cartridges. Final version of barrel housing looks different now but it is still block-ish shaped (it was shrunk to fit). Barrel housing block is now attached with six screws (it was four in concept model). LOWER RECEIVER The 2008 concept model lower receiver was also machined from aluminum alloys. It is similar to the SCAR lower receiver but lacks the bolt catch lever. As mentioned before, the bolt release was loca- ted on the upper receiver. Already in this phase, it was decided that MSBS will have interchangeable pistol grip but there were some mockups with grip fixed to the polymer lower receiver. The ma- gazine release lever is huge – in the final rifle, shape is similar, but size was reduced. Concept model features ambidextrous safety swi- tch with some non-standard throw of lever. The basic design is similar to HK G-36 but the markings are in front of the lever and not above it. Safe is 20-25 deg throw up, single shot is 10-15 deg throw down and full-auto is 90 deg throw down. In GROT it is more popular 0 deg, 45 Lower receiver Left-side manipulators Right-side manipulators GROT www.fragoutmag.com
