In real life, it seems that every year you should replace the batteries. HWS will remind you when to change batter- ies with reticle blinking. There is also an automatic shut- down feature after 4 or 8 hours. Pressing the "DOWN" button activates 4 hours mode and "UP" button activates 8 hours mode. Simple as it is. The dimensions and weight of the HWS are on the heavy side. XPS is 255 grams and 97 x 54 x 64 mm. The EXPS is 317 grams and 98 x 58 x 73 mm. Sights are rugged, element-proof with an excellent reticle and wide point of view. The final question is RED or GREEN? EOTech claims that the green reticle is six-times bet- ter seen than the red reticle (how did they measure that?). According to that, the red reticle on setting no. 12 should be as crisp and bright as green on setting no. 6. Does it work like that? Absolutely, no but there is some difference in clarity on lower settings. Green reti- cle is contrasting with the vegetation in the background and looks clearer than the red one. On the bright back- grounds, the green reticle seems to be more visible. To the naked eye, the green reticle is more "grainy" than the red one. The green EOTech is definitely a new thing and it re- quires slight adaptation to the completely new color of the reticle. We are still changing between the rifles, one with red and second with green reticle and had no prob- lems during shooting. We are curious if there will be any difference in battery life. What might be considered as a con of EXPS2-GRN is the availability in black only (oh, there is an Optics Planet OPMOD exclusive in tan too). And we are also using the EOTech G.33 magnifiers with 3x zoom. THey definitely increase aiming on medium ranges and flipping it on or off is really quick and does www.fragoutmag.com
