Most of the people, who know a little about medicine, wo-
uld consider this job as extremely stressful. The physician
says that its totally opposite, other jobs are stressful. Of
course, there is always some stress but you have to think
rationally about this service.
"Saving lives and health is what we love to do. And we
know that we cannot be responsible for a drunken driver
hitting the tree and killing himself. We will try to save him
but we can't blame ourselves. We are here to help, not to
judge. You need to realize that we are doing everything
we can but we won't be able to solve such problems as
illnesses, high blood pressure, diabetes or irresponsibility"
says the physician.
"Flying the helicopter or aircraft is not stressful. What's
more, it's fun. The stress that casual Joe can't handle so-
metimes are the emotions. We can CPR or transfer blood
all day long but the emotions of the patient, wounded or
one's family are hard to understand. The problem is the si-
tuation where we see a father holding his killed child. Such
situations are difficult to deal with but we have to handle
them. All of these make us think how fragile our beings
are. We have to deal with it and we have strong beliefs.
Our mission is to help the people. Stress is everywhere
but we are ready for it. We were trained for this job. We
can't relax during the duty. It is flying and we can't risk our
safety" adds the pilot.
