M y adventure with firearms began two years ago and since beginning in- stead of throwing money into ammo and courses, I was spending it on gadgets, building my dream "toys". I am quite picky and if I can change something that will make my gun look better, enhance comfort and functionality of it – I just do it. What is important, I am a leftie. My first handgun was a Glock 19 and what irri- tated me was the short and uncomfortable grip with finger grooves and that's why I sold it. Then, I bought a Glock 19X, milled down the grip at the bottom to fit in a magwell which, what was re- vealed later, was dedicated for Glock19 and didn't fit to the geometry of the 19X grip which is identi- cal to that in glock 17. I used a dremel tool a little bit too much and the pistol couldn't be rescued anymore so I sold it as well. I bought another 19X where I did correctly but what flipped me then were accessories– match them with a gun color or go with classic black ones so… I sold it. I decid- ed on a classic "little black" and I bought a Glock 45 which I have had for a year now and for sure will remain in my gun safe. What would be on it? This will be in a separate article. Let this be a part about me and my gun owning philosophy. My first rifle was a 7" Hardened Arms AR-15. I thought that for Sunday shooting will be more than sufficient. After a few range sessions I start- ed to hate monolithic trigger guard integrated with the lower receiver which was almost stab- bing my middle finger as it was poorly milled. When I was buying the rifle, I bought an ambidex- trous Daniel Defense fire selector/safety switch which ultimately worked worse than the original one. After putting on everything I wanted I noticed that the rifle was too short to hold it comfortably (I will just leave the part of pros and cons of short ARs that I read on us forums). I must say it, the rifle wasn't bad, it was me who had specific needs when it came to comfort and I like when my builds are accepted by the gun society across the pond. I like to live with knowledge that my decisions were right. The time has come for something new. I read fo- rums, combed (sweeped?) through Youtube vid- eos, a number of threads about barrel lengths, gas systems, buffer tubes etc and came to a decision that I will build my own high-end AR15. I decided on a 12.5" barrel. It went rather smooth- ly, the last part was a handguard that I have waited www.fragoutmag.com
