Flights vs training Apart from equipment and localization, there was also a need to prepare and approve the documentation of Air Train- ing Organization, get required certificated from Polish CAA and later all was ready to begin training flights. It's worth mentioning the training flights are not the only types of flight carried by "Small Fleet" - more than 90% of flights are train- ing along with operational requirements of PMAR HQ. What does this actually mean? It can be a bit compared to Air Taxi flights - in case of need to send a transport or medical supplies to remote airbase the fastest solution is aircraft or helicopter. Similarly in case of people transport (e.g techni- cians) to solve urgent problem as e.g. computer servers are down or HEMS helicopter is experiencing technical difficul- ties. Moreover, it's way safer and more reliable way of trans- port, especially with current pandemic situation. Thanks to such flights pilots are getting to know specific of their future job, people or airbases locations, what makes further train- ing way easier. "People who come to us are usually experienced and well trained pilots, while we only fill the gaps. We also look at them from an economical side - if we have a pilot with CPL(H) license and 500h on board helicopters, we'll do rest of it (another 500h) on aircraft, as this is 4x cheaper. Once pilot got required experience and he's marked as "safe", he's being transitioned into operational flights. Similarly in case of CPL(A) license - here we try to chose people with at least private license for helicopters so that we know they already know the basics in this area" continues Miroslaw Tomaszewski. www.fragoutmag.com
