hear-through audio that accurately preserves azimuth and elevation cues in 360 degrees and there is also a "su- per hearing" mode which enhances the ambient sounds. The onboard electronics provide NRR 20 dB protection (SNR 23 dB) and smooth compression algorithms eli- minate "clipping" and turn it into "sound suppressing". The NRR protection level might be increased up to NRR 32 dB (SNR 39 dB) with NFMI in-ear plugs. Plugs are a great addition for those working in a high noise environ- ment, like mortars or artillery. The boom mike is interchangeable and might be easily detached when not required. The unused microphone port is secured with a plug. The microphone features standard U-173/U connector so it might be replaced with the FM53 gas mask compatible microphone. Both ear cups are connected with the T-shaped cable – the bottom part has a 9-pin Fischer connector compatible with single and dual-comm PTTs.
