replace the battery. In AMPs you just unscrew the cap, replace the battery and screw the cap back on. Way fa- ster and simpler. The slots protecting the microphones were redesigned for better protection against dirt and dust. As in RACs, the AMP cups are connected with the wire. Microphone might be moved from left to right – it is essentially the same as in RACs. Connectivity was solved in a completely new way. AMP is modular so you can either have a connection down- lead or you can just detach it. There are two versions of headset available. The AMP Connectorized has two downlead ports (one on each of the cups) and the PTT cable might be attached to either left or right side of the headset. If you are not using the radio, you can remove it and there is no problem with finding the best way to secure it to the headset. PTT cables are attached to the 9-pin Fischer connector. There are U-174 and Amphenol cables available compatible with multiple PTTs. There is also an AMP Fixed Downlead variant with permanen- tly attached cable (U-174 J11 or Amphenol) with lower price tag. The onboard electronics responsible for audio was also improved. The 3D Hear-Through Technology and algo- rithms are more advanced in the AMPs than it were in RACs. The overall audio quality stepped up. Also the noise protection was increased. The NRR was raised to 22 dB (SNR 27 dB) in the basic version and to NRR 34 dB (SNR 41 dB) in version with NFMI plugs paired with headset.
