R44 and Tecnam 2008
C
hoice of aircraft and helicopters wasn't accidental, but very well planned - the machines are supposed to be best available for not
only training, but also operational needs of Polish Medical Air Rescue.
I
n terms of aircraft one of the main criteria was the range - machine should fly to the farthest base from Warsaw and have enough
fuel to divert to alternate airport along with additional 30 mins of reserve. Another important aspect was aircraft stability and the
construction able to fly with 15kts of crosswind component. Additional requirements were dual controls, Glass Cockpit avionics (in order
for pilots to get used to such setup) and high-wing configuration, along with further safety features. "There were many constructions
that could have won with Tecnam, however after considering multiple offers and options, we chose this aircraft and it was very good
decision. Moreover - one is using Rotes engines, which are powered by car petrol, what makes the training costs lower" adds Head of
Training.
