STR-9 and improves controls. The trigger guard itself is slightly thin- ner for better shooting with gloves. The trigger shoe has a similar shape to the Glock one except it's slightly more pointy. The interchangeable textured backstraps are great. Two sizes are included – M and L. The tex- tured grip has two low-profile finger grooves. Beaver tails are similar in both STR-9 and legacy Glock. The STR-9 has a short MIL- STD-1913 rail under the barrel with three slots for accessories. Unfortu- nately, the distance between trigger guard and first slot is not compati- ble with some of the WMLs. The slide is far better than in leg- acy Glock Gen 3. Front and rear ser- rations improve grip when shooting in gloves or in the rain. They look similar to Beretta APX ones, maybe they are designed by the same guy? Remember the factory iron sights of Glocks? STR-9 is a different league: durable stainless steel irons with clear three dots. Way faster and rugged. Also, the rear sight in STR- 9 has a dovetail mount and is eas- ier to replace without some kinky screwdriver. We did some 15 meters quick shooting and the gun was quite ac- curate (all rounds in the 9's). Noth- ing spectacular but we just took the gun out of the box. 25 meters sport shooting with a supported gun and the accuracy was more than satis- fying. Gun is controllable and has a comfortable grip. Biggest flaw? Feeding. How can you build a Glock-esque pistol fed from your proprietary magazine in- stead of wide-spread Glock ones? Stoeger decided to use their own steel magazine (similar to SIG Sauer ones). Two comes with the gun. Good luck finding more. Glock compatible mags would solve the problem… The Stoeger STR-9 comes in the polymer case with two magazines, basic cleaning kit, two backstrap, chain lock and holster! Yup, the pistol comes with Level 1 retention OWB polymer holster with paddle. Nothing fancy but enough for start- ers, so you will have a ready gun with a basic kit for shooting range. The content of the kit may be differ- ent depending on the country. The US MSRP for the basic kit with one magazine and one back- strap is $329. The Optic Ready vari- ant is $379 (slide has cut for optics and the kit contains four adapter plates for MRDS). The most expen- sive is STR-9S Tactical optic ready with three extended capacity mag- azines (20+1) and threaded barrel ($579). There is also a Flat Dark Earth variant available. Stoeger STR-9 is definitely a good bang for a buck and great alterna- tive to Glock 19 Gen3. Comfortable FIREARMS
