Ops-Core FAST SF
The idea behind the Ops-Core FAST SF was essentially same as in
the previous designs – to keep best possible ratio between ballis-
tic protection surface, weight and compatibility with all headborne
equipment and accessories such as communication headsets and ear
pro, night vision goggles, thermals, flashlights, IFF strobes (like Core
Survival Hel-Star) and cameras such as MOHOC. The full compatibil-
ity with body armor was also required. The outcome was the high-cut
helmet shell with undercut in the rear for better compatibility with the
packs and better reduction of bulk.
The latest SF helmets were also a direct response to the requirements
of US special forces which started the Next Generation Helmet pro-
gram in 2015 with the goal to replace the Ops-Core FAST MT (Super
High-Cut version also known as Maritime) which were developed and
introduced around 2012. The main difference between standard FAST
XP/ST and MT was 16 mm higher under-cut in the ear area for use
with multiple types of headsets. 16 mm higher under-cut in the ear
area for use with multiple types of headsets.
The Next Generation Helmet evolved into the SOCOM SPEAR Family
of Tactical Headborne System program with two tasks: FTHS Ground
