levels. The most prominent change is in the appearance of the vehicle's body, modeled after the Borsuk IFV. HSW S.A. adopted a concept assuming that the equipment would be unified, with existing solutions being used to the maximum possible extent, when it comes to the modified M120G carrier platform, for the 120 mm self-propelled (track) mortar. The base can also be used to prepare a higher platform that could accommodate heavier equipment - that may be utilized in the Krab squadron-level fire modules, as a modification of the WD/WDSz command/com- mand staff vehicles, procured within the framework of the Re- gina program. The higher variant would feature the ICT system based on the current AWD platform of the Rak modules, using the Rosomak APC as the carrier vehicle. The new platform can also be used to create a counterpart of the AWR vehicle, using the optoelectronic sensors and radars, devised from the AWR platform, based on the Rosomak APC. The remaining hardware - for instance the communications suite, and the remote control weapons station, would be common, between both platforms. Considering the structure, and the inventory of the Polish Army, one could assume that the requirements of the rocket/artillery units would envisage procurement of tracked mortar systems that would offer performance levels on par with the continuous track vehicles operated by the mechanized battalions (BWP-1 now, NPBPWP Borsuk in the future). 4X4 BASE VEHICLE The HSW S.A. 's stand at MSPO 2021 also features another new product - a 4x4 base vehicle, prepared in collaboration with the Czech TATRA Export. It is an offering that addresses the 4x4 vehicle requirements voiced by the Polish Armed Forces. The ve- hicle has been designed with the Rocket/Artillery component in mind, in particular - it would be used as a base 4x4 platform for the artillery elements, including the 155 mm KRYL squadron level fire module (wheeled, self-propelled gun-howitzers), and for the 122 mm LANGUSTA rocket artillery units. The vehicle can also act as a universal base for specialized vehicles, designed for oth- er branches of the military, SOF included. The base variant is operated by a crew of two, and it can car- ry up to 6 fully equipped soldiers. The armor protects the crew from projectiles and fragmentation. The 4x4 vehicle is 13t (gross vehicle weight can be as high as 18t), using the TATRA 815-7 drivetrain, can also feature cabin design changes - custom cab- in layouts for future applications can be implemented as well. Ultimately, the platform is to be manufactured in Poland in the partially owned by HSW Autosan manufacturing plant (second owner is PIT-Radwar, also a member of PGZ holding). 34 www.fragoutmag.com
