ZU-23-2CP Upgrade Kit Twin-barreled anti-aircraft 23 mm automatic cannon ZU-23-2CP was designed to engage low-level flying tar- gets as well as light armored and non-armored vehicles and other ground targets. Gun utilizes 23x152 mm avail- able in API, HEI-T, APDS-T and FAPDS-T variants. The up- grade kit developed in ZM Tarnów effectively increased the capabilities and performance of the gun with auto- mated mechanical steering in both azimuth and elevation planes. The kit contains a drive controller, electric actu- ators with gears, manipulator, charging and power sup- ply system. The upgrade improves the crew comfort and in case of emergency still allows the system to operate in manual mode. The electric drives offer incomparably higher precision, smoothness and dynamics of gun guid- ance than manual drives. MWS Modular Weapon System The ZMT MWS is a modular semi-automatic gas operat- ed short-stroke piston rifle. The legacy variants were .308 MWS-25 and .338 LM MWS-38. Both MWS are semi-auto- matic but the ZMT might offer it in the select-fire variant too (currently, only the MWS-25). Originally there were 16" and 20" barrels available but shorter 13" and 16.5" were also added to meet demands of customers. The 7075 aircraft-grade aluminum upper receiver fea- tures full-length monolithic MIL- STD-1913 rail that allows attaching high-powered scopes, night vision and thermal clip-ons and other accessories. Stock is folded to the side to decrease the overall size of the rifle and to increase portability. The gas regulator has three positions: regular, suppressed and shut off. The 20" and 16" barrels come with a rifle-length gas system, the 13" and 16" barrels have a mid-length gas system. If there is enough interest, the ZMT can manufacture 22", 18" and 14" barrels, includ- ing .260 Remington chambered ones. The MWS-25 might be converted to the 6.5 Creedmoor round which is recent- ly becoming more popular in military and sport long range shooting. The MWS-38 is chambered for .338 Lapua Mag- num rounds and is available in 22" and 26" barrel lengths. Under the front part of the upper receiver there is a light- weight aircraft-grade aluminum handguard with M-LOK attachment slots on the sides and bottom. The M-LOK recently became an industry standard, but ZMT may offer handguards with older KeyMod slots if required. Hand- guard also has a number of vent holes in the bottom part to shave off some weight and to increase the air circula- tion for more effective cooling. Their shape follows the shape of the ZMT logo. They also look kind of cool. 58 www.fragoutmag.com
