7.62 x 39 AK
conversion kit
The most interesting addition is
the 7.62 x 39 AK round conversion
kit. It comes with a 16" barrel with
standard muzzle device similar to
the one which comes with the 5.56
rifle. Of course, the diameter of the
barrel is different and the barrel
features 5/8 UNEF-2A thread in-
stead of ½-28. 7.62 x 39 barrel has
1:9.5 twist. From the outside, the
barrel does not feature the fluting
and lacks the loop in the bottom
part of the gas block (it is only in
the 10.5" barrel).
Gas block and gas piston with its
operating rod are nearly the same
as in the 5.56 version, the only
differences are the dimensions of
gas ports due the different pres-
sure of gasses. The gas block and
gas valve are marked with C-letter
(probably to distinguish the 7.62
caliber). Barrels are serialized on
the right side, other markings are
PL (Poland), caliber, twist rate and
length.
Except for the barrel, the conver-
sion kit features a proprietary bolt
carrier group with new firing pin
with retention pin and 10 round
steel magazine. GROT is compat-
ible with most of STANAG mag-
azines and can be fed from "ba-
