We saw almost everything from the „local" offer of CZ, except the rifles-we-are- not-allowed-to-talk-about (CZ 600 series rifles were ultimately revealed month after the Media Day) and BREN 2 carbines in PDW version. And there were two of them. Both with 10 inch barrels and collapsible stocks. One chambered in 5,56x45mm and second in 7,62x39mm. Thanks to collapsible stock it could be shortened as much as possible -- what is more – make it narrower. Compared to the standard version, the length difference isn't so big but the width differ- ence is substantial as it is few centimeters compared to the standard version with folded stock. This is important when it comes to riding with it in the con- fined space of the vehicle or in case of soldiers who are carrying mostly sling- ed on the back such as artillery, maintenance, crew served weapons etc. After retracting the stock, BREN2 is no bigger than a submachine gun but it still uses a carbine round and shares almost 95% of parts with standard version which is an enormous advantage for supply. Apart from that – we saw most of it, we shot most of it. Scorpion EVO in differ- ent versions, BREN 2, BREN 2 BR… But still we eagerly shot from guns familiar to us as there wasn't an ammo limit and we could shoot to our hearts content. We took the opportunity and shot from everything we could and after 4 hours we said „enough, it's time to eat something". And Czechs can make schnitzels, oh they can… The event ended officially the same day with a dinner in the local steakhouse where hosts thanked everyone and made a short speech. That's how you make marketing with low costs. Low because if we wanted to calculate the costs and compare it to the number of articles, publications etc. made so far (as this one) and those that will appear after the premiere of new rifles, we would come to the conclusion that organizing the Press day could be considered cheap. In the end, we spent a great two and half days with opportunities to get to know the „secret" novelties and meet colleagues that we see only on international expos. CZ Press Day? Always and with pleasure. REPORT
