Similar to other Ultra series products, Ultra Hoodie is maximally simple, but still maintains its functionality and some of its quirks. It is an anorak or hoodie cut with a zipper going from collar to 1/3 of the body. The length of the zipper makes it comfortable to put the hoodie on and increases the ventilation during high intensity physical activity. There is a windflap under the zipper which protects against blowing wind and additionally prevents the zipper from stucking. Thanks to that, the zipper will not tear the hair from our hairy chests or beards out. To make the use of zippers easier, even with gloves on, it ends with a large rubber pull tab. The hoodie is insulated with the lightest G-LOFT synthetic insulation with a base weight of 20g/ m2 – it is the first time that this type of filling was used in such a lightweight version. Based on that we can assume that it is rather an ad- ditional insulation layer to wear over or under other thermals, than cold weather clothing – obviously there is no issue to wear it in mo- derate temps. It depends on the overall weather conditions and personal preferences. Carinhtia's design team met the challenge as always. In the top part of the slim-fit cut hoodie (both at the front and back), fancy quilting in geometric sha- pes was used. Not only is it pleasing to the eye, but also stabilizes the G-LOFT insulation fibers. Outer fabric is smooth faced polyamide, tearing and abrasion-resistant, but the tensile strength shouldn't be tested, i.e by crawling on the rocks etc. Sides and sleeves are made of soft and stret- chable easy-fit Technopile material, known from other products. On the sides you can notice two short, vertical zippers covered with additio- nal flaps with magnets. They can be used two ways – when used as a civilian, they make put- ting on easier, especially if you are a member of the Tactical Belly Owners Club, and as a milita- ry, it is easier to draw a handgun from the OWB holster. These slits will be especially useful for those who carry stuff on the belt (multitools, fla- shlights, ifak etc.), as they allow access without rolling up the jacket. Sleeves are simple and be- cause of stretchable Technostretch fabric - non- -profiled on elbows. The cuffs are finished with easy-fit and stretchable fabric as well. There are vents underarm made of soft and thick mesh, helping with air circulation. On the front there is a muff packet that is lar- ge and open on either side. The packets are sewn slightly slanted which prevents stuff carried inside from falling out and additio- nally they are secured from both sides with small magnets. Inside the pocket, both on the right and left side, there is a small elastic compartment for a phone or something of similar size. In 2020 a warm hoodie – Ultra Hoodie, was revealed in Ultra collection, a series of minimalistic insulating clothing by Carinthia, a brand which was introduced several times in our magazine. www.fragoutmag.com
