OPS-CORE US Gentex ballistic protection equipment manufacturer compa- ny and its Ops-Core brand were present at two booths - its own, proprietary one, and at the Glomex MS booth - the latter entity is an Ops-Core representative in numerous European states, Po- land included. Ops-Core SF helmets was the main highlight here - including the latest RF1 model that can stop a rifle round. SIG SAUER A full range of rifles and pistols by SIG Sauer was presented during the GSOF symposium - including MCX and MPX. The product showcase also included the current offer of electro op- tics, such as the Romeo8T enclosed red dot sight, with a large viewing window, and TANGO6T 1-6x24 variable magnification sight. TANGO6T is a typical representative of the LPVO (Low Power Variable Optics) solutions that have become very popu- lar among uniformed services. TANGO6T with illuminated reticle has been selected by the US military as the basic optics for the M110A1 SDMR (Squad Designated Marksman Rifle) - a modified Heckler & Koch G28 DMR rifle tailored to meet the US GOV re- quirements.. It had been introduced previously as the M110A1 CSASS (Compact Semi-Automatic Sniper System). TANGO6T was also selected by the US SOCOM as the Squad-Variable Pow- ered Scope (S-VPS) for the M4A1 rifle. LOCKHEED MARTIN/PZL MIELEC USSOCOM is seeking the replacement of the U-28A Draco (Pilatus PC-12) aircraft - within the framework of the "Armed Overwatch" program. The new aircraft differ greatly when it comes to sup- porting the SOF troops on the ground. Apart from the armament, they are also expected to receive numerous reconnaissance and communication systems. The program is aimed at procuring air- craft that would serve as a support platform in regions without infrastructure, located far away from well-equipped operating bases. Sierra Nevada Corporation is one of the bidders, offering the MC-145B Willy Coyote platform, a modernized and retrofitted variant of the C-145A Combat Coyote - that had been previously operated by SOCOM. C-145A is a derivative of the Polish-made M28 Skytruck/Bryza aircraft, tailored to meet the US require- ments. M28 is a product of Lockheed Martin's Polish PZL-Mielec facility. M-28 SOMA (Special Operations Multi-Role Aircraft) is to become the export variant of the MC-145B. Ultimately, the con- figuration of SOMA would be tailored to meet the needs of the Ordering Party. www.fragoutmag.com
