CONNECTORS A cable going to an audio source - a radio or smartphone - is clipped to the bottom socket. Currently supported are the most popular military communication systems (PRC-148/152, Motorola XTS, Sepura 8000, ICOM IC, Apex), but there are also cables for vehicle and helicopter intercoms, Kenwood and Motorola radios and smartphones (USB and 3.5 mm jack). Especially for us, for the purpose of the review, Silynx made an adapter to connect Clarus with Radmor 35010 PRR. For users deploying two radios at the same time, there are special adapter cables that make it possible to communicate on two separate channels, which are selected via PTT buttons A and B. The software of the Clarus recognizes the connected radio automatically, so there is no problem in selecting and identifying the sound source. Plug & play. OPERATION After plugging in a headset and an external source, i.e. a radio or smartphone (not necessary for proper operation). The "+" button is used to turn the unit on/ off, which in both cases must be held for 5 seconds. The "+" and "-" buttons are used for volume up/down and to activate the "Hear-Thru" mode that boosts conversation voices. When using a single radio, communication is controlled by the PTT A or PTT B button - it does not matter which one is pressed. When two radios are used, these buttons control traffic on a particular radio. The menu is equipped with voice confirmation. The adjustment of volume levels is indicated by beeps, and additionally a female voice informs us about the most important functions of the system and, for example, warns us about low battery levels. www.fragoutmag.com
