Surprisingly, in my rifle from the very first hundred of early production ones these protrusions are not present! I don't know how many rifles were made in such a way, perhaps not even all from the same batch have such guides, but they are certainly rare species, because the "civilian" guide is the one with the protrusion. Anyway, my early GROT can take a mil-spec bolt. BCGs There are some differences in the bolt carrier groups, but we will focus on the bolt carrier, leaving aside the dif- ferences in the bolts, resulting from the transition from the A1 to A2 in the case of military firearms and impro- vements in the design of the firing pin (change in the radius of the undercut) in civilian ones. The main change compared to the civilian bolt carrier are two channels in the upper part of the military bolt carrier (between the recoil spring guide and the bolt seat in the carrier). Inside these channels there are six tungsten weights (four in the left, two in the right - the diffe- rence is due to the asymmetrical sha- pe of the bolt), while the inlets of the channels are closed with screws. The whole system is absorbing recoil for- ces and improves the stability when shooting fully automatic. For obvious reasons, this element is not present in a civilian S16. The second difference is a sear in the rear part at the base of the military bolt carrier. The hammer is cocked by the bolt carrier as it moves rearward. The carrier pushes the hammer down and the search of the sear grabs the hammer. As it moves forward aga- in, the carrier catches the top of the sear in the assembly and releases the hammer.
