ment, as it is the sole Polish Army component operating main battle tanks abroad. A company of the Po- lish PT-91 Twardy main battle tanks is stationed in Latvia as a part of an international NATO battle gro- up. The tanks work in sync with the Canadian (leading), Albanian, Mon- tenegrin, Czech, Spanish, Northern Macedonian, Slovak, Slovenian, and Italian troops. All of the forces listed above are stationed in Ādaži. Thanks to the above, the Latvian de- tachment has tank components from Poland (PT-91), Italy (C1 Ariete), and Spain (Leopard 2E). These are sup- ported by the B1 Centauro support ve- hicles, and VCC-80 Dardo, BMP-2, and Pizzaro infantry fighting vehicles. The presence of international forces within the Latvian territory stems from the geopolitical situation in the region, resulting on the grounds of the aggressive moves made by Rus- sia that began in 2014.
