ACCESSORIES The helmet is delivered with side mounting rails that allow for the attachment of additional components such as hearing protection, oxygen masks, lights, or Caiman-specific mandible guards—available in both ballistic (fragmentation/ small arms) and non-ballistic versions. Additionally, the top of the rail features bungees for cable management (e.g., from an NVG battery pack), while the front includes bungees with carabiners to secure night vision devices. Interestingly, there is a strap at the rear for securing an NVG counterweight, which can also be supplied with the helmet. The Caiman is standard-equipped with a three-hole NVG shroud. While the classic Wilcox 56100G34 mount was the standard, as of 2025, Galvion also offers its own proprietary shroud. In addition to night vision, the shroud can mount items like a Ballistic Visor, including a variant that allows for the simultaneous use of the visor and goggles. Another module for the Caiman is an innovative solution in the field of „smart" helmets: the EDG system. This is a plug-and-play solution that transforms the helmet into an active data and power network. The EDG integrates wiring within the side rails, allowing a single main battery pack (mounted at the rear as a counterweight) to power multiple devices such as NVGs, flashlights, cameras, or HUD displays. Traditional systems require loose external cables, which create a snag hazard. EDG completely eliminates this by routing power through chan- nels inside the rails. Part of the system is the Cortex intelligent communications hub, which manages data and power flow, protecting expensive electronics from surges and optimizing battery consumption. www.fragoutmag.com
