slide to improve grip during racking or press
checks. Unlike Gen 5, these are deeper at the
top and shallower at the bottom. The internal
geometry of the slide and striker has also been
redesigned. The ridges in the firing pin channel
have been raised and the lug shape modified
to prevent illegal conversions to full-auto—an
aftermath of recent issues in the USA.
Last but not least — the changes mentioned
above have also improved the weapon's
aesthetics. Seriously, believe it or not, the
GLOCK is no longer just a „block"; it has gained
subtle curves and rounding. It's still obviously
a GLOCK, but as many say, „it's somehow
different, looks better".
@ RECOIL ASSEMBLY
The recoil assembly is a bit of a „blast from
the past," specifically to Generation 3, as it is
now a standard, single flat-wire spring on a
polymer guide rod rather than a dual-spring
assembly with metal sleeves. According to
the manufacturer, this assembly is sufficient,
reduces design complexity and weight, and
since all Gen 6 GLOCKs will currently be
chambered only in 9x19 mm, it was decided
that nothing more was necessary.
