CAIMAN BALLISTIC TL The flagship model of the family is the Caiman Ballistic TL (Tactical Light)—this designation appeared only recently, as the UL (Ultra Light) model was introduced in late 2025. The helmet shell features a „high-cut" geometry, the current standard with high cutouts in the ear area to provide a compromise between maximum pro- tection surface and zero interference with hearing protection. The Caiman shell, only 6 mm thick, utilizes advanced Ultra-High-Molecular-We- ight Polyethylene (UHMWPE). Through a proprietary high-pressure molding pro- cess, Galvion produces its own high-strength composite that provides protection while maintaining a significantly lower weight than traditional aramid helmets. A complete helmet in size Large weighs just 1.13 kg and meets modified NIJ 0106.01 / NIJ 0101.06 IIIA standards, stopping 9mm Parabellum rounds and providing frag- mentation protection where the $V_{50}$ parameter for a 17-grain FSP exceeds 867 m/s. The Caiman TL also provides blunt impact protection at a level of 150 G at an impact velocity of 3.5 m/s. Unlike competitors who typically offer three or four shell sizes, Galvion offers five, ranging from S to XXL. This allows approximately 40% of users to move to a smaller, lighter shell while maintaining proper coverage. The shell is covered with a series of Velcro loops for attachment of equipment, patches, or other IFF markers. The Caiman is available in Tan 499, Black, and Ranger Green colors.
