equipped M9 bayonet introduced in 1986 for use in US Army with M-16A2 assault rifle. First variants, as pictured Phrobis one, had two straps for securing the bayonet in the sheath, additional external pocket (e.g. for pistol magazine) and sharpener. Next production batches were simplified and they were stripped down from accessories. Sheath when attached to the bayonet will serve as wire cutter. Pack, Field, Large – ALICE Large Field Pack, the bigger brother (or sister) if Medium Pack. Has almost 80 liters capacity and six external pockets. Dedicated for Special Forces and Reconnaissance units for extended operations. For some, still rewarded as best military pack ever made – still in use these days. Large Field Pack must be attached to frame. Below pictured is backpack with six color desert camouflage cover (there were also snow white, woodland camouflage and three color desert camoufalge covers). Pack, Field, Medium – ALICE Medium Field Pack without frame attached. Since 1974 ALICE packs were standard issue for the US armed forces, still in service today in some units. ALICE Medium Pack has a 40 liters capacity, three external pockets and flat pocket in the flap. It might be attached to metal LC-1 or LC-2 frame or carried with the suspenders only.
