FooTwoRK Shooting on the move is one of the basic skills of a professional weapon user – both within and without the shooting range. Proper foot- work, proper balance during moving with a weapon are prerequisites of accurate shooting. The feet are working one way while moving forward, and completely the other way while moving backward. The key to success is a proper balance at a proper point – keeping the body weight in a precise spot where it should be kept. Also diagonal translation need training and is not that easy while in full gear. PIvoTING wITH A wEAPoN Firing a weapon in different directions calls for an ability to turn oneself with a muzzle safely and fluently, so as not to endanger oneself or the friendlies. Pivot left, pivot right, as well as about turn pivoting to the left or right are basic skills, to be mastered and train both solo and in team, the way one would do the turning in reality. USING BARRICAdES Making optimum use of barricade to obtain maximum protection is a skill obtained with long training. The best way of learning it is in teams: let the other person take po- sition in front of the barricade to indicate what part of your body and how much is extending. Also, using a barricade one must take into consideration the parallax problem – the sight axis, be it red dot or other, is NOT a bore axis. One's sight might clear the barricade easily, while one's bore – err, not really. One have to build and maintain a body of partial bar- ricade skills before one starts shooting over or around barri- cade. Portable barricades are very useful for that training, as they have a multitude of variously-shaped ports at different heights. Properly conducted training syllabus uses different of these to simulate for differing real situations. They may stand for a car, wall to the left or right, a slit in the wall, win- dow, pillar, etc. Practicing with these barricades is a good preparation for real world scenarios when one must use different types of barricades – so far ye olde typical 'Mk 1 range barricades' do not appear to find their way into the real field all that frequently... www.fragoutmag.com
