Heckler&Koch MP7 is a compact submachine gun, 415 mm long (638 mm with stock extended), 51 mm wide, 169.5 mm high (w/o sights), 1.8 kg heavy (2.1 kg with full 40-round magazine and red-dot sight), with 180 mm long barrel. The sight radius is 203 mm, and the rate of fire is 950 rpm. There's a choice of 20-, 30- and 40-round magazines (weighing in at respectively 0.1 kg, 0.15 kg and 0.20 kg). MP7 is a short-stroke piston, gas-operated weapon with a bolt turning to lock-up. It is a selective fire (classic three posi- tion safety-selector lever: SAFE, SEMI and AUTO) weapon firing from closed bolt with a hammer. A drop safety similar to Glock pistols was added to the trigger. The barrel is polygonal, 6/R, 1:160 mm twist, culminating in a multi functional muzzle device (flash hider / muzzle jump compensator) which can be additionally fitted with a BFA or suppressor. The manufacturer claims the barrel service life of 15 000 shots. If needed, the barrel can be easily exchanged – it is simply screwed in into the trunnion. www.fragoutmag.com
