We did not manage to insert the active connected hearing protectors under the helmet – neither MSA Sordin nor Peltor ComTac III/XP did not fit under the shell (in the both head- band and neckband configurations). The high undercutting of the rear part of the shell makes that there are no limits in terms of the head movements, even when user wears a body armour with a collar or a ruck- sack. A helmet cooperates very well with the popular models of protective goggles and eyewear. The accessory rails enable to assembling compatible with the ARC standard of the equipment although their inner profile is a little bit different – an Energizer HardCase Tactical Helmet Light Tango flashlight had small clearances, similarly as Princeton Tec MPLS Charge. There were no problems with the NVG arm socket – both the Norotos AKA2 arm and USGI AN/PVS-7 & 14 worked securely and without woobling. SUmmary The HA-03 certainly is a significant step ahead in compari- son with other helmets used up till now in the Polish Armed Forces airborne units, and even – when contrasted with the wz. 2005 which slowly becomes the basic helmet of the Pol- ish Army. That is good that Army finally decided to ditch the old style helmet liner and replace it with adjustable pads which could be easily arranged, maintained or replaced with different upgrades like COTS upgrade kits. That is good that one did not titled at windmills and did not try to invent the wheel, but decided to apply a harness of the renewed man- ufacturer. It is pity that the army chose such a shell shape and that one applied a safety buckle modifying the strip ar- rangement. After all – a helmet is quite comfortable, there is no compar- ison in relation to this with any used up till now model (ex- cluding the Special Forces). According to the manufacturer's words, already at the stage of the creating the HA-03 was consulted with the some of future end-users who assumed it positively. It is the only helmet in the Polish Army which is approved to the parachuting. Certainly, not mentioning the "nut" which landed on the scrap heap. www.fragoutmag.com
