On 10th March 2015, the Polish Armed Forces Armament
Inspectorate finished accepting offers from the companies
desiring to supply to the Polish Navy new tugboats. As a
result of the proceedings which was begun in December
2011, Navy is be procuring six such vessels which will be
located in two naval bases on Baltic coast.
After procuring of four hydrographic boats which
were supplied by Irish shipyard, it is the second
planned purchase of the vessels for the Polish
Navy. It fits squarely into the previously declared
plans and shows that despite many corrections,
the Ministry of National Defence really tries to
increase Polish military potential on the Baltic
Sea, and it could not be done without the
supporting vessels which purchase may be a
kind of testbed for the more advanced projects
– the Czapla-class patrol vessels, the Miecznik-
class patrol vessel or the Orka submarines.
Finally, the offers of new tugbots were submitted
by four companies – the Spanish Astilleros
Armon SA, the Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A.
from Gdańsk, the Polish Armaments Group
(a consortium of the Shiprepair Yard Nauta S.A.
