HANDLING The weapon handling procedures are similar to AR-15/M16 weapon systems – the main difference is the bolt releasing lever located in the trigger guard. There was a lot of controversy about it – BAD Lever users were up to it and after short time they used to that part. Shooters not using the BAD Lever on their rifles were criticizing bolt release lever. It is all about customs, habits and muscle memory – it must be highlighted that Polish Armed Forces standard issue rifle is Beryl, a modified derivative of old Soviet AK, completely different than AR-15. Soldier armed with MSBS will have totally different set of weapon handling skills and habits than us. We are also interested to hear the feedback about shooting the rifles with the winter gloves. The MSBS safety switch lever had some bitching time. This part was not modified since our last time with the MSBS and the switching between safety, single and full auto positions is too smooth, it does not have tactile click or resistance between modes so shooters accustomed to the AR-15 safety switch almost instantly flipped the switch from safe to full auto. We were told that this part will be replaced but in this moment the safety switch does not work as it should. The charging handle is canted down so the hand charging the weapon will not collide with larger size sight like EoTech EXPS3. It is far better solution than the one from 2014 and there is nothing to improve left. Weapon might be flawlessly charged even when the sight is mounted directly over the ejection port but it will be more comfortable with micro-sized sight like Aimpoint Micro T-1/H-1.gy HANDGUARD Front handguard remained without modifications. It is comfortable and still allows to place MIL-STD-1913 accessory mounting rails but it was too short on the rifles we had on hand. The gas regulator is not covered and its position my accidentally changed during weapon handling, e.g. when transferring from strong side to support shoulder or when it will catch combat equipment. Adding 1 or 1.5 cm more of handguard length would solve the problem. MUZZLE BRAKE Muzzle break or flash hider is simple but effective. It allows to quickly install sound suppressor. We had absolutely no problems with shooting with silencer even with standard ammunition. BULL-PUP Most of the complaints in the bull- pup MSBS-5,56B rifle were about the safety switch lever (same opinion as in the standard MSBS- 5,56K rifle) and about the magazine in the rifle. The latter might be due the fact we are using the classic designs and the bull-pup requires to change the way of placing the hand on the grip. Otherwise there could be lot of pressure on the magazine which might cause the discomfort for the shooter. In case of MSBS-5,56 with 10" barrel (SBR variant) the muzzle end is hidden in the handguard (about 1 cm before its end). Due this the design is very compact and portable but during shooting thumb must be kept out of the slit in the handguard (hot gasses!) and out of front part because the barrel end is not visible. Best solution is to install the front grip. TRIGGER GROUP We will not leave the feedback about the trigger because we know that multiple configurations and variants are currently tested. We can only hope that best available solution will be chosen for serial production rifles. www.fragoutmag.com
