The training was conducted on a rotational basis and groups were changed at the three stages devoted to different subjects. The first stage included threads connected with an attack for a vehicle and a quick evacuation. Due to a shooting demonstration of a police vehicle it was left no room for delusions in terms of the ballistic protection by the soft skin, that is a traditional vehicle body. All officers unanimously admitted that during a basic or specialist level of their training such issues were not raised, although a few of them had come within an inch of the real events during which such knowledge could influence their reactions. The second stage consisted in learning bases of medical rescue operations within a scope of controlling of bleeding when using tactical tourniquets and improvised dressings. It was also discussed an introduction to Tactical Combat Casualty Care and medical rescue. The last stage was associated with learning how to work with a flashlight and a handgun, that is Circle Light Discipline procedures included in the FBI and Academi/Blackwater training program. The main assumption of these techniques is deceiving a potential aggressor with regard to a body position in relation to a source of light. It was the most strenuous element of the training since one had to inspect every object in the room. The participants of the training acknowledged a great cognitive value of the presented topics and admitted a necessity to introduce this problematics in their own units. A few seminarians expressed a desire to conduct in the extended scope trainings with a vehicle and a combat weapon. Time will tell if knowledge acquired due to the IPA seminar brings measurable benefits. However, it certainly invoked in many policemen a willingness to change a point of view and inoculated a situational awareness, what intrinsically could be assumed as a success. www.fragoutmag.com
