A few kilometres further, i prac- tically had no strengths. 42km from the beginning of the walk, to a cottage still 10km. on my way appeared a car with two german tourists. i decided for an evacua- tion. i stopped them, i take off my googles and a wet balaclava and asked them for a help. the cottage turned out an ordinary building prepared for the tourist groups. All doors were padlocked. i tried to find on each side of the building a place where wind blew less, but i did not manage. A risk tastes well, but i put safety above all. i decided to be lifted 50km further. to a safe and dry place, distant by several dozen kilometres from the landmana- laugar, borsmork, skógar high- lands. it was one of the hardest days which i remember from my travel. but not the worst one. this what i had encountered in bors- mork, caused, that my determina- tion was extreme. lesson: do not play with the icelandic weather. storm was not decreasing. it rained even more intensively. i decided to walk out after 12 p.m. from the very beginning i observed weath- er and quickly moving clouds. i de- cided to set off when i saw small clear ups. the route led through a dam on the hrauneyjalon lake. there was still tailwind. on the left side i saw waves crashing onto the barrag- es. A wind strength was so huge that drove large masses of water spilling on the area of several kilo- metres. every once in a while permanent, intensive gathered forces and hit me three times stronger. i had to hold down under such an angle in order not to be pushed and roll down from a slope of the dam. A repetition from yesterday: apart from milder weather my entire back is wet. walking further on the flat surface, despite that i wore a few layers of clothing, i felt chills. i was so happy when i saw the first steep approach and a way through it to the first mountain stage of my travel – landmanalaugar. while climbing, i felt real warmth. wind began to drop. i noticed first spar- kling sun rays in the sky. This is it! EXTREME
