shots at 600 meters are doubtlessly possible even with DM11 standard-grade rounds. In order to reduce the weight of the G28 and ease its operation, the Bundeswehr has meanwhile added a patrol add-on kit ("Ergänzungssatz Patrouille") to the accessory package. It includes a shorter hand- guard, a modified shoulder strap and a streamlined buttstock and Kahles K16i 1-6x riflescope. Optional scopes which can be used with the G28 rifle are Leupold Mark8 1.1-8x24, Schmidt&Bender PMII Short Dot 1-8x24 or Steiner M5Xi 1-5x24 scopes. As the .338 Lapua Magnum aka 8.6x70 mm calib- er is becoming increasingly popular among snip- ers, sniper rifles manufacturers have proceeded to offer semi-automatic rifles in this caliber. The most interesting rifles in this category are Albert Arms ALR.338, Noreen Firearms Bad News .338 and SWORD. International Mk081 Mk-18 Mod 0 Mjolnir Extreme Distance Capable Rifle. Bolt-action rifles The bolt-action long-range precision sniper rifles continue to be the established standard in the sniper community. The British armed forces are still using their L96s and L115s based on Accuracy International Arctic Warfare Magnum series. The U.S. Army decided to adopt .300 Winchester Magnum (.300WinMag or 7.62x67) M2010 Enhanced Sniper Rifle which are delivered with Leupold Mark 4 6.5-20x50 ER/T M5 Front Focal scopes The .338 Lapua Magnum is more and more evolv- ing into the established caliber standard for sniper rifles as it provides excellent accuracy and effec- tiveness at ranges of up to 1600 meters. Since 2008 British armed forces are using the .338 L115A3 rifles (modification of AI AW(S)M-F), Blaser Tactical 2 was chosen by Australian Defense Forces and the French and the German Federal Police top counter-terror- ism unit GSG9 opted for PGM Precision PGM338.
