The SPECOPS name appeared for the first time in 2000 as a name of website dedicated to the military and special operations forces subjects.. The founders took patterns from two other websites which existed at that time, both about military and special forces. The "Green Devils Special Parachute Group" team of combat & survival freaks was active in Pomerania at the beginning of the 1990s and it was many times de- scribed in many Polish miltary-related media and mag- azines. The team leader even gave interviews on the local TV, acting on the imagination of the young military enthusiasts. The "Green Devils" website had functioned since 1995 and had constituted a real phenomenon as the internet access was not so common in Poland (hey, it was just six years of capitalism here!). The platform became a forerunner of the SPECOPS Discussion Board. One of the characteristic features of the "Green Devils" team were special tactical vests sewed and rigged by a mom of one of its members. Each piece of this vest was customized, only a general outline and a basic design were consistent. It was a single piece vest with a front zipper, permanent belt loops and adjustable on sides with cord. On its back there were three vertical pouches with a Velcro closure. The right pouch was designed for carrying a gas mask with filter on the outside for a quick access – this piece still remains in the SPECOPS vests which are manufactured today.
