The bolt-action Barrett MRAD sniper rifle was designed to meet re-
quirements of the US SOCOM Precision Sniper Rifle (aka SOCOM PSR).
Barrett undertook this task and, on the basis of its well-known
and regarded model 92B, modified it according to the specifica-
tions provided by SOCOM. This give life to MRAD, so the Multi-
Role Adaptive Design.
