The Spyderco company was established in 1978 in Golden, Colorado state, by Sal Glesser's. To the large extend we owe to him the EDC knives in the today's shape. A Spyderco Worker knife manufactured in 1981 was the first folding knive equipped with a hole for one-hand opening and a clip which enables to as- sembly the knife to the pocket edge. Together with a release of this model a domination of the classic cuts in the blade, which support both its taking out from be- tween the liners, and spectacular breaking your nails. As solutions patented by the Spyderco have become more and more common, has vanished a habit of put- ting own folders loose into the pocket, no matter how pleasantly has been associated this one of the most characteristic sounds of the childhood – a knife which clangs with the changes for orangeade – however, it has turned out much more convenient to use the ben- efits of the springy clips. An offer of the company is rich and aimed, to the large extend, at the enthusiast who appreciate top mate- rials, although it does not lack knives for those who would like to invest in such a tool an equivalent of their own monthly remuneration. Two of such models have been passed to me for the tests. Both a Tenacious, and a Resilience are the knives from the "budget line", pro- duced in China from 8Cr13MoV steel already tested by the Spyderco in the equally budget Byrd series. They are distinguished, from the popular "Birds" sub-brand, by a standard SpyderHole instead of a teardrop, what makes rightfully-entitled "Spyders" from them. Both knives have been made of the same materials, they have also a similar design, and they differ only with their size. The Tenacious has been designed as an EDC knife of a middle size (197 mm), and the Resilience is already decidedly a large folder (238 mm). KNIVES
