Two tiny smart projectiles developed by Raytheon – Pike
and Pyros. Pike, with small rocket engine, was announced as
precision (laser) guided munition for under-slung/stand-alon gre-
nade launchers with up to 2 kilometers range. Pyros is engine-less
small (6 kilograms or 12 pounds) laser guided bomb for UAV. Both
Pike and Pytos are now in development phase.
Rather unknown
Raytheon AGM-176 Griffin lightweight precision-guided
munition developed with parts of FGM-148 Javelin ATGM and AIM-9X Sidewinder missiles. It can
be launched from Predator and Reaper UCAVs, AC-130J Spectre gunships or from boards of small
vessels. Maximum range is up to 8 km (naval use) or up to 20 km (airborne). The modular blast-frag-
mentation warhead can be fitted with different guidance systems.
During the Eurosatory 2016 a quite big number of automatic
mortar systems was present, in both 81mm and 120mm ca-
libers, like
RAK, Eimos, Cobra or SPEAR
Mk.
