panel of the steering wheel is moved towards driver's window, the set of pedals clutch/brake/accelerator has been moved to right. That is why we often hit the clutch instead of the brake. All those features results in the fact that driver must use some strength while driving and trust his or her own skills, because there is no chance for accurate working with the clutch and the brake. Defender does not immediately react to our commands, it considers them and, finally, kindly de- cides to perform them. What is more, a person that is over 185 cm tall will have great problems with finding a position allowing comfortable driving for 50 kilom- eters. Ergonomics have been based on standards and ideas from many decades ago. Everything that is not purely necessary is just... absent. Everything is simple, clear, almost laconic, which is a great advantage com- pared to the extravagant features that we encounter in modern SUVs full of electronic devices that are said to be more or less "off-road" and then get rusty at the very sight of a puddle. One of the few advantages of Defender is almost per- fect visibility, which is provided by large area of almost vertical windows. Unfortunately, it has been achieved for the price of another, rather nasty disadvantage of everyday usage – the noise that is heard inside that is generated by the shape of the car with aerodynamics similar to a large wardrobe. What's surprising, the noise of 122 hp Fordist drive unit is sufficiently reduced and not very burdensome in everyday usage.
