Ayoob technique
Called after Massad ayoob, long-term lawman, instructor and gunwriter. The light hand is pressed against
the shooting hand to help stabilize it, while retaining the ability to control the side switch (this technique is
only applicable to side-switching lights).
ADVANTAGES:
Ä Works with side-switching lights, devised for old
school large D-Cell patrol lights, like Maglite;
Ä Intuitive, needs only small amount of training to
master;
Ä Easy, almost automatic aligning of the beam and
bore axis.
DISADVANTAGES:
Ä Works ONLY on side-switching lights;
Ä On shot beam displacement needs re-aligning;
Ä During shooting the weapon may bang on the
light;
Ä The light source attracts shot to the shooter's
silhouette (center mass, at torso level).
