The total estimates for expenses from MOD's budget spent to forming, equip- ping, and making WOT function will be: in 2016 – 394.4 m. zloty; in 2017 – 630.7 m. zloty; in 2018 – 1.095 bn zloty, and in 2019 – 1.482 bn zloty. WOT TASKS The tasks of WOT include: preparing the country's military defense at a local level based on civil infrastructure, supporting operational forces in regions and areas of joint activities, conducting anti-sab- otage and anti-assault operations, and supporting the relevant services in the event of threats to the country's safety. The said tasks can be specified in detail as follows: Ä ●in the event of a conflict – involvement in military activities aimed at destroying or suppressing the forces of a potential enemy, in cooperation with operational forces, support forces, and elements of non-military setting, Ä ●conducting independent unconven- tional anti-sabotage and anti-assault activities, Ä ●participation in activities supporting the reception and deployment of allied reinforcements in indicated regions, Ä ●crisis management, including civil protection against the effects of natural disasters, removal of such effects, pro- tection of property, search missions, and rescue activities or protection of human health and life, as well as participation in crisis management related operations, Ä ●protection of local communities against the effects of destabilization and misinformation, Ä ●cooperation with various units of the state's defense system, including prov- ince governors and local authorities, Ä protection of local communities against the effects of cyberspace attacks, Ä ●involvement in information activities, including promoting the idea of patriotic upbringing among the society. STRUCTURE The organization of WOT is to be tied closely to the country's present admin- istrative division. The existing TD units are to be supported in their organization and functioning by military intermediate administration authorities. The opera- tional level of WOT is to be composed of brigades, whose sub-units will be deployed across all provinces (the num- ber of brigades is to correspond to the number of provinces, with two brigades to be established in the largest of them, i.e. the province of Masovia). Apart from brigade commands and brigade training centers, each provincial capital will have a command and a part of sub-units of a TD battalion. According to the latest information, there are to be 68 battalions. This gives a total of 314 TD companies plus support and logistics sub-units. It has been also said that the headcount of WOT is to amount to 53,000 soldiers. Brigades are to be of different structures, but the core of each unit should be com- posed of four to five battalions, with four to five companies each. The elements of battalions are to serve as the basis for creation of the so-called WOT task forces, which will carry out particular tasks, and be provided with additional equipment and reinforcements if neces- sary. According to the WOT Commander, a brigade, being the largest unit of the structure of territorial forces, will not be concentrated in region, but should act as an element of operational and logis- tic support for lower-level sub-units and combat forces (provision of support and logistic aid to forces to ensure continuity of operations). As stated in initial concepts, some bri- gades were to be of stationary-protection ANALYSIS
