www.fragoutmag.com Let's drive and ride! Welcome to the world of Mitsubishi. The version we have used had petrol 117HP 1.6 liter MIVEC engine which has 154 Nm torque. It is sufficient to reach a maximum speed of 183 km/h and reach 100 km/h in 11.5 s. Rough technical data is one thing and the reality is the other. As for the effective driving around urban areas, the capacities of the engine are good enough. Problems occur while traveling. First of all, at speed of around 120 km/h equals 3000 RPM, which in the case of cars by Mitsubishi means an unpleas- ant sound inside the car. Second of all, the declared power of 117HP and torque of is reached respectively at 6000 and 4000 RPM. Summing up, in order to neatly overtake several trucks on an express road or a highway, you have to force the engine far above 4000 RPM and grit your teeth to survive the noise getting from under the hood. If would be much better if the basic version of ASX 2017 was facilitated with a 6-gear transmission but, unfortunately, we had to deal with standard 5MT. The drive system is connected with a duravke and com- fortably set suspension system, which perfectly works both when driving in urban areas, as well as on the road. It results in lighter and more agile driving. One may have the impression that 2017 Mitsubishi ASX is not afraid of holes, bumps, or collapsed manholes. That is largely due to the firm and direct power steering system. Unfortunately, the same system filters a great amount of information that reaches the driver, so we may have the feeling of "virtual" driving. Still, it is a proportional system, so power steering is weaker at higher speeds and we feel that we have more control over the actions of the car on the road. Mitsubishi ASX has not been designed for fast, aggressive driving. The very first attempt of a rapid turn might result in a very surprising inclination of the car. Its world involves calm but firm travels from point A to point B, with the guarantee that it will get you to final destination. Putting it short, ASX has nothing to do with racing. And let it be that way. What is interesting, the car performs great off the road and anyone who will find themselves in a situation, in which he or she must leave the safety of asphalt roads, will be surprised how good is the car for off-road. We could check that by ourselves on a difficult terrain. If it was a 4WD model, we would definitely have pushed the car more, but we did not want to end up stuck in the mud in front of hundreds of soldiers. Our whole trip through was accom- panied by the unsaid declaration offered by the car: "If we managed to get here, we will manage to get out of here". And Mitsubishi ASX kept its promise. Why ASX? We got used to the fact that Mitsubishi provides us with verified solutions that are composed of a simple and reliable engine, well calibrated suspension, and durability. We must remember that despite all the years, the car has remained almost unchanged since its introduction in the market in 2010. Mitsubishi ASX is an attractive option for those who seek a simple, reliable car with several interesting features (a simple method of bending the back of the back seat), as well as decent performance. You will not find here any trendy and tasteful electronic waterspouts, but you will get a reliable car. As in the case of other Japanese cars, it will seamlessly serve you for long years... until you get bored with it.
