and the logistic support. In the maneuvering area of a battalion, artillery batteries and platoons perform tasks assigned to their own maneuvering areas (maneuvering areas of fire platoons and one fire position to let the whole battery carry out the required tasks). The distance between particular elements of unit – a battalion and a battery – and other sub-units in AMA should be at least 500 m. The C4I system of a Krab unit makes it possible to achieve a greater level of autonomy in action, and helps disperse the elements of a combat formation of fire sub-units better than in the case of older types of cannons and artillery missile launchers. The basic fire sub-unit for the new gun-howitzers, to deal with firing operations, is to be a fire platoon composed of four standard vehicles and a command-post vehicle. The platoon will be able to act as part of a battery or on its own, i.e. as a whole sub-unit or a pair of cannons. The size of an AMA, target area and the distance thereof from the front edge of own forces s (the so-called: Forward Edge of Battle Areal; FEBA), and the capability of the C4I system. The Krab range is 30 km when standard rounds are used and 40 km for rounds with a gas generator – this make possible to increase own firing range, and shrink the so-called enemy "impunity gaps". In order for a unit to remain "alive", an artillery unit with 155 mm gun-howitzers should carry out tasks from AMAs located 8–12 km away from FEBA, which will make it possible to fire 18–32 km deep into an enemy area. These base parameters, developed by the Management of the Missile and Artillery Forces of the General Command of Branches of the Polish Armed Forces, are given for reference purposes only, and are not any final standards limitjng operations. According to Polish tactical assumptions for Poland, the staying time of a 155 mm artillery at a firing position should not be longer than 120 seconds from opening fire. A Krab crew, in turn, needs less than 30 seconds to fire the first round from the order, even on the move. LAND FORCES
