RABBIT'S PERSPECTIVE I rarely carry a knife as such – for a few years I have used the CRKT Desert Cruiser, which has been cool, but very round-bellied and therefore not very convenient for carrying it. Moreover, it "has eaten" the pocket material in the rapid pace just because of its rounded handle. Then I have switched to holding a tool (approximately since 2009), which in the urban EDC seems to be more universal. A few weeks ago, I received the ZT 0909, which I have begun to carry as the EDC knife. It is a large and heavy folding knife, but it is rather not a big issue for me as the Leathermans, which I have used the most frequently also are not excessively lightweight. Neither its weight, not the dimensions of the ZT do not threat in this compression. Certainly, I remember that the 0909 is only the knife, not the tool. I agree that this knife resembles a tank by its design – nevertheless, I would argue in respect of the nation since as the "Soviet med" looks too good. I would rather compare it with the Leopard 2A7 or maybe M1A2SEP. Armored, slightly rough, but elegant and accurately. The 0909 accurately pleases my taste. OK, with one exception – for heaven's sake, who has conceived this protruding nut??? Not enough, that it is completely unsymmetrical (and I am fond of the symmetric designs), additionally it looks like the manufacturer has run short of the fancy screws and he has sent somebody quickly to the metal store just round the corner to buy something to screw the knives. Mercy, it looks really badly, and moreover in case of the left-handed persons it will destroy the pocket (also in case of the right-handed persons, but to the less extend, as the screw is orientated towards the inside of the pocket, not outside). All the same the knife look superb, as I like – simply, military, as the tool. And the StoneWash™ finish – mastery, after unfolding the 0909 makes a superior impression. And there are no traces of use on it. I have rather large palms, so I do not have any problem with the handle of my ZT. Actually, I can say that it has been designed almost perfectly for me. No matter if I grip it with a bare hand or I have just the "tactical" gloves. Due to my size of the palms it is no issue for be to unlock the edge both with my thumb, and the index finger. Clearly, the 0909 is the knife for the persons with the larger palms – then it turns out that everything in it is in its own place. The shape of the han- dle, size, batten under the thumb, flipper – everything is all right Unfolding the knife due to the bearings is a poem – it is enough to over- come resistance of the detent ball, which maintains the blade in the fold- ed position and the cutting edge smoothly unfolds to a working position, snapping at the same time the lock with an explicit clicking. Folding is also easy with my hands. In use – well, Villemo is better at it, and I can only confirm her conclu- sions. It is not the knife for the precise works, but it copes with them well. It can be used for preparing a meal (maybe not in a very convenient manner, but it is not torment), in the urban uses of the EDC it also works very well. It chips excellently, cuts the cardboard boxes, fabrics, bread, meta plastic bands. Due to a large surface area of the cutting edge it can spread the different stuff, for instance lard on a slice of the bread. Seemingly, a thick blade suggests its indestructible nature and encour- ages to use the knife "for all", but I would be careful with that. It is still the designer folding knife and although armored, I would not exaggerate with burdening it with the various tasks. Well, it can finally do not stand it. Well, I have carried it on everyday basis for several months – it works. Admittedly, it is still the most comfortable in the "tactical" trousers with a dedicated space for the knife, then in the jeans trousers. And one more thing – a cool clip. It holds in a certain manner, has a well selected shape, which facilitates its sticking in and simultaneously is not sticky and does not hook against the elastic band of the jacket what can be irritating in some cases. And it is possible to rearrange it to the left side, what is also important. To sum up – if you like the simple, tank design, you are not bothered with its size and weight so, the ZT 0909 is right choice for you. KNIVES
